New LindseyBeal.Net is Up!

My new refurbished website is up! After much work from Nelle, a little tweaking by me (barely any, I just feel proud I figured it out!), it's up! It has a new look and organization, some old work added, new information added to the the biography and resume, and soon, in a few months, new work!
It's beautiful! Thanks to Nelle Dunlap for her hard work!

Check it out everyone!

New Website up later this week!

Hello all! I will have a new website posted later this week, created by the fabulous Miz Nelle Dunlap (check out her sites: http://www.nelledunlap.com/

There is some new work, but the main work is in the making and will be posted by the spring. In the meantime, enjoy the look and layout!

In other news, I have been added to St. Olaf's alumni page, which makes me feel good:)

Work is coming along and projects are coming together. I have finished all of the repairs, etc. on my torsos and will start to go back in and add things to them. Slowly starting to make more wallpaper panels--but right now, I've been doing a lot of reading, research, looking to other artists and a lot of thinking on content of my projects. Slowly but surely, it's coming together.

hope the approaching winter isn't bumming anyone out,
Lindsey
p.s. check out my student's work--lots of great stuff! http://www.thedigitalimage.tumblr.com

Box Full of Torsos & WIP Fest

I've been really working on my paper torsos this week, exploring various artists that have been recommended to me and going and patching the seams. I've put creating more on hold for a bit until I figure a more in-depth track for them. I wanted to show you some of them in bulk--I have amassed quite a bit by now.
This weekend, I also partcipated in the Works-In-Progress Festival in Iowa City. I didn't do as much of the meet & greet activities just due to busyness, but I presented my paper torsos as a works in progress and it went really well. It really forced me to think more about the work's purpose and potential problems and presentation. I got really nervous right before i presented (I followed a juggler--hard act to follow right?) but it went really well and I had people come to support me--I don't know if that made me more or less nervous:) but it went well and in the Q & A session afterwards, I got a lot of great feedback, criticism but with well-meaning, advice which you can take or leave, but it was a great experience and I would do it again if they repeated. It was great to see so many varied projects going on in around me. Iowa City may be small(ish) but it is so packed full of creative people with big ideas, it's invigorating.

Wall Paper Panels

These are the current wallpaper panels I've made so far, in detail. You can get an idea for size from the last entry. They've been fun, though taxing to make, but it'll be great to see them unrolled and actually take a look at them printed.

Papermaking & Wallpaper

What do paper making and wallpaper have in common? Nothing--just both things I'm working on right now. I shot some images of the process of making paper for you all to see what it involves and the process i make in making each torso.
Also, printed out 6 of my wallpaper panels over the weekend and wanted to share them with you--they're quite large! I haven't seen them unrolled yet because I have no way to support them and not bend them.
